Casement Windows

Casement windows, which are also referred to as casements, are windows that are built onto a frame through one or more hinges. This type of window opens and closes like a book because they are opened being swung inward or outward. 2ventCasement2Their different parts include hinges, a frame, and a handle that’s used to open and close them. Other types of casement windows are made with cranks, levers, or cam handles. The cranks, levers, or cam handles of casement windows are either placed at the bottom or at hand height. In addition to being used to open and close casements, the cranks, levers, handles, and cam handles are also used as locks for the windows.

Casements have their hinges situated at the sides and can either be used singly or as pairs in a common frame. Casement windows that have paired hinges have them situated outside. To be kept open despite strong winds, casement windows are designed with a friction hinge, crank, or casement stay.

French casement windows are a popular type of casement windows. They are made with two separate panes of glass and have hinges on both sides. They are designed to open up unobstructed at the center.
